Zakopane Weather in Summer Kasprowy Wierch
Zakopane is by no means a place simply unforgettable. A city known for decades as a winter capital of Poland is surrounded by majestic Tatra mountains – the highest range of Carpathians. Any panorama visible from here will make you lose your breath – granite, barren peaks of Rysy summit (2449 meters), Giewont or Mnich look like its bigger brothers in the french or Austrian Alps. And the fresh, mountain air, allows you to breathe deeply – at last! This place is a prefect destination for any polish holidays…
Zakopane Poland Krupówki Street
Zakopane was undiscovered until 19th century – it was a small, forgotten village dwelled by harsh charactered górale (Highlanders). Its status changed after Stanisław Witkeiwicz – an artist and folklore researcher – came here to look into local traditions, art and architecture. What he discovered amazed everyone else – richly ornamented, wood carved chapels and houses, simple and fiery music became since then an important part of Polish own culture. Adding to this new sport opportunities oh Tatras – namely winter skiing and climbing – well, Zakopane ski legend was born and the place simply had to be famous.
If you visit Zakopane today, you will not find here many traces of this small village. While the traditional architecture is preserved and developed – you can visit amazing Jaszczórówka chapel and Villa Koliba to see one of the best local architecture – modern era is here also present. Zakopane hotels are bigger and higher than anywhere in Poland and the city has a vibrant nightlfe scene. Days are spent here always actively – on hiking, climbing and skiing. If you are keen on trekking, you can spend from one up to seven days in the Tatra Mountains National Park hiking through mountain gorges, passes, peaks and waterfalls. Poland’s highest peak – Rysy – can be climbed in one or two days, and the most demanding and difficult opened European trail – Orla Perć will allow you to test your climbing skills. For „soft adventure” try an easy and relaxing walk to emerald-green Morskie Oko lake or to small and cozy Five Lakes Shelter – surrounded by mountain peaks and lakes, famous for its delicious apple pie (szarlotka). If you plan to hike, be sure that you will check the Zakopane weather – as rains and storms happen often here and can make your trip dangerous.
